“Some people act to get away from who they are, I act to be more of who I am.”
– Unknown
My Dad is a philosopher, so growing up under his wing gave existence to questions from a very young age. I was sixteen questioning “why do I act? And why do I love it so much?” That was the big question.
Fast forward to being twenty two, in a class in LA where I got the privilege to hear the Academy Award Winning Actress, Mira Sorvino say the quote I listed above. In that moment, I knew those words answered the question that lived with me since I was sixteen.
There is a similar quote by Octavio Paz, a Mexican author and Nobel Prize winner in 1977. In his poem Piedra de Sol, he says, “so that I can be, I have to get out of myself. Get lost in who I am and find myself in others. The others that are not if I don’t exist, those that give me plain existence”.

Being an actor means living with my heart on my sleeve, so that I can be vulnerable enough to discover the unexpressed within me. I understood why I loved acting so much. It makes me connect with versions of myself that live beneath the surface, and I believe that to be a beautiful blessing.

Sense of purpose
I believe I have a purpose in life, and I believe it is to serve others. To me, art is my truest form of expression, if you get to see my art, you have seen my soul. I hope my art and vulnerability can help others feel, transform, relate and overcome, but if my art is not doing any of that, then I am not serving my purpose.
